Keeping Our School Community Safe During Drop‑Off and Pick‑Up |
||
|
This morning, officers from the Harrogate Outer Neighbourhood Policing Team attended Long Marston Primary School following concerns raised about parking and speeding during school drop‑off times. Officers observed traffic and pedestrian activity around the school entrance to assess any safety risks.
The main issue identified was children exiting vehicles on the roadside rather than onto the pavement. This creates a significant safety hazard, particularly during busy periods when visibility is reduced and traffic is moving through the area.
To help keep all children safe, we kindly ask parents and carers to follow these safety guidelines:
Ensure children exit the vehicle onto the pavement side wherever possible, even if this means adjusting where you stop.
Avoid stopping in the middle of the road, on junctions, or in areas marked with school safety restrictions.
Drive slowly and with extra caution near the school, especially during peak times.
Park considerately, ensuring you do not block driveways, footpaths, or create obstructions for other road users.
Although officers attended Long Marston Primary School today, this guidance applies to any school setting, and we encourage all adults involved in school drop‑off and pick‑up to follow these safety practices wherever they may be.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping to maintain a safe environment for all pupils and families. Your support makes a real difference during these busy times of the day.
Thank you for your continued understanding and commitment to keeping our school community safe. | ||
